Commissioning phase at Tansterne

As the commissioning process moves into the final "snagging" phase at the 22Mw Tansterne Biomass plant, Michael Bradley CEO of Solar 21 and Brian Flynn and Eanna McCloskey Directors of Wealth Options visited the site on the 22nd November to review progress.  Neil Burton MD of CF Struthers and Andrew Bradley, Solar 21's Project Consultant, took the group on a tour of the plant. They witnessed a "steam blow", one of a series of such blows being conducted whereby steam is vented through a silencer to the atmosphere to make sure the pipes taking the steam to the turbine are scrupulously clean. In the feedstock barn, a demonstration of the feedstock handling system was performed using a load of waste wood biomass that had been delivered. The group also visited the control room where the operation of the plant is monitored and controlled by the Plant Manager and operations staff. Excellent progress is being made towards full operation and power generation. Check back soon for updates on full commissioning and find out more about the project here.
