We are delighted to announce that Tansterne Biomass is now commissioned, having received final sign-off from Northern Power Grid on 15th February 2018. This means that the plant is exporting electricity to the grid and will begin to generate income from its power purchase agreement and government-backed incentives for renewable energy generation - ROCs (Renewable Obligation Certificates).Tansterne 22MW biomass power facility, designed by HRS Energy and built by CF Struthers represents the absolute cutting edge of efficient biomass generation. Constructed entirely in Hull, the integrated power system incorporates not one but two patented designs - the fluidised bed boiler and the power generation module – the combination of which creates a level of power output and efficiency that is best in class within the energy industry. This means that Tansterne will produce the cheapest renewable energy from biomass (in terms of cost per megawatt) of any comparable facility. The plant burns waste wood from the local area that would otherwise go to landfill and will produce over 183,000,000 kwh of renewable energy per year.We would like to thank all those who have contributed to this fantastic achievement – our partners, brokers, investors, staff, contractors and advisors in the UK and Ireland. It has truly been a team effort and we look forward to continued success for all in the future.
